Dancing with the Stars Damian and Tina Arena Viennese Waltz
So with this week’s dance the Viennese Waltz we both decided to take a trip back in time and styled the routine to the song choice that was allocated to us. Such a classic, At Last by Etta James. The song was first written back in the early forties and then covered in the early sixties by Etta James and it became one her signature song’s. It’s such a great track to dance to and has been used in many wedding ceremonies and even by the President Barack Obama and his first lady for their first dance!! No pressure… With great help from the wardrobe team the costumes really helped set up this story idea and captured the era, and then the lighting choices and the old black and white filming for the viewers at home in the very beginning brought the hole package together!!

I thought all the judges’ comments were on the money and they gave some good constructive criticism, which gives us plenty to work on! The dance it self went well and I was really happy with Tina’s effort especially the beginning as she danced solo for the first two eight’s from one end of the ballroom to other to set the dance up perfectly. There are always things you could better when you look back at the performance but that’s live television for you, one shot to get it all right! Overall very happy with how it all came together.
The judges scores,
Todd McKenny – 7
Kym Johnson – 8
Helen Richey – 8
Adam Garcia – 7
Total for the night – 30
In case you missed it here’s the dance,
Looking forward to next weeks dance already as we get to do our first of the Latin dances. Happy Dancing and see you at 7.30pm Tuesday…

It was gorgeous – adorable – and I agree there were some constructive critiques, but thought the judges should have commended you on your choreographed solo start – kudos to Tina for being so fearless!
